Lauren’s First Bike Ride

Our fun continued in Lisse after visiting Keukenhof! I’ve always wanted to bike ride in The Netherlands – isn’t that what you are supposed to do?!

Outside of Keukenhof, they have a place where you can rent bikes for the day. We only had about 1.5 hours left before the bus took us back to Amsterdam, so we decided to go for it! The line wasn’t long at all, but I’m sure that is due to the fact it was the end of the day (~4:30).

They had a children’s seat that attached to the back. Lauren wasn’t thrilled at first – probably because she had never seen this before. We all got on and headed off!

Lauren loved it and would say over and over, “WooHoo, Weeee, WooHoo. I’m going fast!”

Here they are ahead of me!

Then I took a turn, but I really just wanted to take pictures…. So, my turn didn’t last long!

A nice family took our picture with the pink, white and purple hyacinth fields behind us!

These are pictures that I took along the way – many while I was riding the bike. Now you know why we decided it was best for Lauren to ride with Billy!

We got caught by a train – which gave us the perfect opportunity to look at the map! Surprise… We got lost! 🙂 Our trip was supposed to be 5k and we ended up going 10k! Oh well, we all had a great time and the scenery was incredible. Plus, we didn’t miss our bus back to Amsterdam.

We ended the trip with some Dutch Apple Pie! It was pretty good. I’m sure my father would have liked cheese melted on his slice!

Happy Easter! Do you have tulips, daffodils or hyacinths on your table today? I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend!

Rachel – Lauren loved the big shoes. Over and over while wearing them, she repeated, “too big, too big.” Even when she sees the picture now, she says it!

Well, Karen, you sure did stop and smell the flowers. You went beyond that when you stopped and quacked with the duck! Oh yes, that is Aunt Lois and I who do that. Really though, you got a nice feel for the fields around you. I am glad.

Forgot, that apple pie looks All American. 🙂 Thanks for the mention.
Yes, I would ask for a slice of cheddar and have it melted on top.

I’m betting they quacked and had Lauren quacking also! It is fun getting lost. You may see things you wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Glad you made your train without a problem! Lots of beauty to take in!
